Response to "What is Cinema"

I honestly didn't understand much of this story, but I went back over it a couple times to see if anything stood out to me, and I started flashing back a little. A few semesters back, I learned I had a knack for certain forms of art, liking to draw, use pastel, etc. Over that time, I learned I had a thing for art, whether by drawing or Photoshop.

Looking back in the story, I got the message that time goes on, things change and evolve, and art is no different, but people would find it nice to see something from the older ages and the more original works like the Mona Lisa and other famous works. New or old, I like to believe that art and other forms of work should depend on the views of the maker and not just the viewing audience.

We are very dependent on the internet, risking our privacy our safety giving it the power to shape our beliefs and ideas as well as our perception of reality. With all his interesting ideas Hito Steryl makes us realize how alive the internet is maybe even more alive than we are. The bad of our world uses the internet to control us more than we control it.

Response to Hito Steyerl

Hito Steyerl Hito Steyerl talks here about a mental or spiritual death that the internet undergoes. In fact, the internet (when introduced in 1983) was this very new and innovative thing, now it is just something mainstream that is part of our daily life. I would say that it lost it's magic. Internet used to be a place to achieve knowledge and was supposed to stay a very practical way of getting informations or communicat. However, it is now a business that is governed by overpowered corporations that abuse it's power in order to make a propaganda use out of it. Is the Internet dead ? No, it did not die, but it lost its life.
