Response to "Kino Eye"

Dziga Vertov talks about the camera like if it was perfect. He explains how it can capture something perfectly on the moment. He also talks about the act of shooting video, how it is a form of art, talent, and precision. In fact, when filming, the cameraman should feel the emotions that pushes him or her to do what they are doing. However, we cannot forget about the traditional manual arts such as painting and drawing. Those forms of art stay the base for everything and sets the point where art started to get recognise. Overall I really liked reading “Kino Eye”, it made me understand more about the philosophy behind filming and using a camera opposed to manual arts.

Hito Steryl - Is the Internet Dead?

Hito Steryl proposes and interesting idea that helps us see how far the internet has come. Steryl makes his readers grasp the reality of the internet. What once started as a good thing full of possibility has transform into something that can be very dark and scary. “Although not everyone uses the internet, the internet has reached unimaginable places” it has transforming reality into something that is not true a false reality, and we depend so much on this. We are very dependent on the internet, risking our privacy our safety giving it the power to shape our beliefs and ideas as well as our perception of reality. With all his interesting ideas Hito Steryl makes us realize how alive the internet is maybe even more alive than we are. The bad of our world uses the internet to control us more than we control it.

Response to Hito Steyerl

Hito Steyerl Hito Steyerl talks here about a mental or spiritual death that the internet undergoes. In fact, the internet (when introduced in 1983) was this very new and innovative thing, now it is just something mainstream that is part of our daily life. I would say that it lost it's magic. Internet used to be a place to achieve knowledge and was supposed to stay a very practical way of getting informations or communicat. However, it is now a business that is governed by overpowered corporations that abuse it's power in order to make a propaganda use out of it. Is the Internet dead ? No, it did not die, but it lost its life.
